Am Slam at Chula Vista Skatepark

Stop 2 of Sun Diego’s AmSlam skate contest series went down this past Saturday at the Chula Vista Skatepark. All the usual suspects were in attendance as well as a few new faces. Brendan Villanueva has been making some new fans the past few weekends at Sun Diego events. He won the 13 and Under Division at Stop 1 of the AmSlam, came out the next weekend and won the Best Trick at our Go Skateboarding Day event, and was back on Saturday to claim another 1st. Brendan leads the Points Totals in the 13 and Under Division.Dolan Sterns leads in the 14-16 Division, with Cody Hale and Joe Steckdaub hot on his heels. Nick Tucker holds the top spot in the 17 and Over Division with a 2nd Place at Stop 1 and a 1st at Stop 2. The skating in the Open Division was top notch and the top 3 spots really could have gone in any order. David Cobb, Diego Najera and Jake Hill all put together super solid and near flawless runs. Diego is a machine and easily could have taken his second AmSlam win, but Cobb was able to impress the judges by utilizing the whole course, as well as skating the whole contest on a Krooked Zip Zinger board. I guess nobody told him the Zip Zingers are for cruising and not backside flipping double sets. CVS Local, David Cobb took this one, but Diego is the far and away Points Leader in the Open Division.
